You need to remove the blank where the lock barrell would be fitted if it was drivers side.to do this remove the black plastic bung that is located on the edge of the door ,then pull the handle as if you were opening the door and hold it in that position,then insert a 20 torx screwdriver in the exposed hole from pulling the bung out
4. Remove the interior door release handle cable. Start by popping the harness out of the mount on the locking mechanism. The harness is very securely mounted. I had to use a small screwdriver and leverage from a small gap below the mount to get it to pop out. After releasing the harness, unhook the cable.
Step 1: Open the door. Step 2: Remove rubber insert in interior door armrest bin to get at screw underneath, then remove screw. Step 3: Pop out panel behind interior door handle and remove screw behind it. Step 4: Grab and pull on the small triangle of plastic at the mirror’s attachment point; it’ll come right off.

It is made of metal so I doubt you will break it. Neat little trick, get a shop rag, put it between the handle and the trim ring (make sure the handle is turned so the rag is on
1. reattach the 2 8mm screws BEFORE reattaching the lock mechanism. 2. make sure the retaining spring is partially located BEFOE putting the surround back into the door. Its a little fiddly, but means when you insert the lock back into the hole you can just push the spring clip back into place.
