We LOVE the Canon 5D Mark III. The only reason I gave four out of five stars is the following: 1. We couldn't figure out how to get the RC-6 wireless remote control to work 2. The Replacement deluxe power battery grip requires two (2) rechargeable batteries. (Doesn't contain it's own batteries) Other than that this kit is a great value.
The Pixel grip is very well constructed. The rubber texture and feel is indistinguishable from the rubber cover of the 5D3. The tripod socket is reinforced by a steel base plate inside the grip, not fully integrated into the grip body as the original grip. The base plate is secured to the plastic grip body by screws.
